Lobo's Life Aphorisms

Sometimes life can be very tough and it seems to have no purpose.
It likes to test us, to test our emotional response on important situations,
but being human is being able to recognize, understand, and accept these feelings.
I like to think that the purpose of life is the purpose of a mystery.

We don’t choose to be born,
but we’re infused into a difficult world where we must seek happiness.
Happiness is a subjective matter,
but it is a universal feeling that we all can experience.
Everyone wants to be happy and it is the goal we all want to accomplish,
but you must understand what happiness truly means for you.

Life is as complicated as you make it and so is being happy.
Control your feelings because no one in the world can control them for you.
Anger is derived from evil, which is derived from the devil perhaps…
if you can’t control it, then you’re deprived from true happiness.
No one likes to feel sad, much less mourn.
But we must carry out these actions and cry if we feel the need to,
so we won’t have to carry in those negative emotions.
Happiness is the perfect balance between what you need for physical survival
and the stuff in life we simply desire.

Learn from others as much of life as you can,
but learn from yourself as much more as you can.
One of the many beauties of life is that every day we learn something new,
even when we do not realize we did.
Go back to school, stay in college,
you don’t need to know what you want to be in life to be in college,
simply go to further expand your schema
because wisdom is accomplished thought acquired knowledge.

Always, always remember your reality can end at any moment.
Value every minute of your physical existence.
They say time heals everything,
but I say that time lost destroys.

We are very complicated beings,
the only ones that have to work and pay to live in this planet.
Things can only get better if we work together.
Don’t judge others, learn to hug a stranger.
Learn to respect everyone, even those you dislike.
Like Mexican President, Benito Juarez (1806-1872) once said:
“Respect towards the rights of others is peace.”
When you respect yourself too, you also find peace.
Once you do and you learn to love yourself,
then you can truly love others.

Love is the strongest force in the universe,
the strongest force that can’t be measured,
but is felt and shared by all of us!
As insignificant as we might seem,
 in comparison to the universe,
we can CREATE love.

Love is life, and life is what you make of it,
so make love and share the love.

Oh Boxing...

Oh boxing...you're like a girl,
my relationship with you
is just like a love relationship with a woman.
I love you so much that
I would give my life for you.

I will sacrifice my most precious desires for you,
like beautiful women and their coveted pleasures,
like delicious food and drinks,
in order to make the necessary competing weight.

I highly enjoy our time together
and I have you on my mind all day, every day.
You're just ALL I think about
and I can't live without you.

If I'm absent for a training session,
I miss you so much and feel so miserable.
I just can't neglect you, not even for a few days.
If I do, when I come back (out of shape),
you make me suffer so much!
It's like you're punishing me
for leaving you unattended.

I understand the dedication needed
to make it all possible. But trust me,
sometimes we need a little break.

Sometimes it's good to be away
and have some alone time,
some alone time to reflect on other aspects of life
and appreciate what we have.

When I come back to training,
I see a different side to our relationship.
I see how good of a progress was already there
and it motivates me to keep working hard.
To keep the momentum going
and the good vibes always resonating within.

Oh boxing...
I'm just glad I DON'T have to buy you flowers.

A Nature's Castle

Beautiful castle-like rock formation
makes one’s mind relax
looking into the restful water
from lying on the near beds of green grass.

A Lobo's Journey

Welcome to this short 5 picture story about a Lobo's journey through life as of today.

I remember attending my first day in kindergarten. I was of course scared, didn't know where I was being taken and what to expect. I had a little milk carton-like candy that had small rounded candy in it and when my mom dropped me off with the teacher, I dropped it by the door. I tried to run towards the door to get my candy. The teacher thought I was trying to escape so she grabbed a hold of me and I began to cry, desperately trying to reach the door. As I was struggling with the teacher, my mom kept telling me that it was going to be ok, that she would be back to get me soon. I was crying so much that I couldn't speak; all I did was point my hands towards the door. It was normal for kids on their first day ever in school to throw a fit, so even at that young age I could understand why they were trying to calm me down. It wasn't until the teacher’s assistant saw my candy on the floor and gave it to me, that I stopped crying. As soon as I had my candy, I was a happy kid.

I remember doing a lot of mischievous behavior towards my teacher. I struggled to be “normal” and not get in trouble but I was just a little boy, being a little boy! I had a crush on a classmate and now I believe I would do mischiefs to try to impress her. I was too shy to ever tell her I liked her though. But to my surprise, she was assigned to be my dancing date on the graduating ceremony. We practiced for a couple of weeks and I enjoyed the whole process but I was still too shy to declare my puppet love to her.

My kindergarten experience was a great one, which taught me the importance of communication and the importance of achieving goals in life.

I was brought to the U.S. at the age of 12 but I went back to my native Mexico after turning 16. It was then that I was introduced to Boxing. My uncle was a professional boxer and it’s now a coach. He invited me to train and I quickly fell in love with the sport. I was able to compete 6 times, beginning my amateur career with a record of 4 wins and 2 draws. The boxer in the longer shorts and red shoes was the one I had those 2 draws with.

I was forced to return to the U.S. because I could not continue my education in Mexico. Coming back without my parents was not easy. I had to give up boxing to concentrate in school and work to help pay the bills. When my parents finally were able to come back, I was too caught up with school, work and friends that I lost interest in boxing. Boxing was always in the back of my mind but I lacked the motivation to go back.

As you can see next, I was successful in graduating high school. It was not easy but I knew I could do it. My high school experience was not the typical one where one is an athlete and has abundant school spirit, goes to prom and all that. I was more on my own with a small group of friends just going through the educational system.

Several years passed by and in September 2009, I was encouraged by my good friend Julio Vargas to join boxing once again. He helped me get my physical done and helped me get the paperwork together. Since then, I have been training and dedicating myself to Boxing with a great passion. Even though life always finds ways to make our dreams difficult, our wisdom helps us brake down those obstacles.

So here I am, doing what I love and always striving to be the best. My life goal in Boxing is for my name and legacy to become common knowledge. Boxing has taught me to never give up, that failure begins in the mind. If you THINK you cannot achieve something, you are right until you do it and prove yourself otherwise. Now I’m back in school and to be successful in college, I've been using the skills and discipline that boxing has taught me. I’m a winner and that’s the mentality you need.

What Do YOU Know About Boxing?

Boxing is one of the things in life that people don't understand and never will, unless they themselves have lived it.
You must have dripped the "making weight" sweat, endure it's hunger and dehydration.
You must have ran the miles and jumped the rope countless hours.
Must have torn the flesh in your knuckles, leaving scars and calluses from hitting the heavy bag until its demise.
You must have pushed your body and mind to its limits, to the point where life itself means nothing if you quit.
You must understand how being self motivated is the most important key...And maybe then, you could begin to understand what boxing really IS.

The pain is more than physical

But the glory of a champion is incomparable.

Five looks into "The Giver"

A society that strives for perfection.

Gullible people live plain, structured, assigned lives.

One isolated person has to suffer for all.

Emotions that reflect memories collection.

Wisdom is not necessary often, only one has it all.

Boxing is Life

My life is a Boxing match.

Violating Privacy

With all this new online social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, violation of privacy is nearly inevitable. Even though this might be true, it's everyone's responsibility to know what you share publicly and what you share privately. If you don't understand how your privacy can be violated when you post something online, then you shouldn't post at all. It's like deciding to build a house made of see-through glass walls and expect for people passing by NOT to look and see what you're doing in there.

We're just as curious as cats and if you give us the option to look, we most likely will.

Basic Things About Me

There's a lot of good things to know about me and as you follow me, you will find out how interesting I can be haha!

To begin with, I can tell you:

- I'm an amateur boxer getting ready to turn professional.

- I teach basics in boxing, all in Spanish, on a YouTube channel that now has more than 11,000 subscribers.

- Besides my athletic career, I also enjoy doing music production. I have my own home studio where I record, edit, mix and master music for local artists.

- I also love to teach myself to do different things on the computer, like websites, video/image editing, making apps for phones, etc.

- I consider myself pretty down to earth but with a flexible personality. I can be very funny and play around a lot, but when it's time to get serious, I'm very serious. I love having long conversations that jump from topic to topic.

- Before I forget, I LOVE coffee!!
